Thermal Transferprinters utilize a thermal print head to apply heat to a printing ribbon. The heated printing ribbon produces a durable image on the surface of the label material. Direct Thermal printers use a thermal print head as well, but do not require a printing ribbon. The printed area is created simply by applying heat the surface of the Direct Thermal label material.
