We tried using our Epson printer to print a black logo on to single sheets of Weatherproof Gloss Inkjet (#OL4417WI). Printing appeared to go fine and was intended for outdoor use(on a car). We mimicked washing the sticker as one would a car, and found the ink smudged horribly.
I now recognize that this printer is not an "official label printer" like a Primera, but is there a way to print on these labels so they have some staying power?

Changing the material type setting within your printer options to a photo or glossy setting should dramatically improve the print durability. If you haven't already, that would definitely be the first thing to try.
Designs that primarily feature heavily concentrated black ink can sometimes be tough with desktop inkjet printers, simply due to the tendency of black ink to over saturate the the inkjet top coating in certain scenarios. If you've already tried adjusting the material type settings and are still experiencing smearing, then you may want to try applying a clear coat protective spray like Krylon Preserve It.
