Hi everyone,
I’ve been offering custom box packaging services for a while now and recently started experimenting with different label materials to make my boxes stand out. I primarily use gloss labels and some matte finishes, but I want to know:
Which label materials work best for custom box packaging?
What label finishes (like weatherproof or glossy) do you recommend so the labels remain intact during handling and transit?
I’m also exploring foil labels for high-end packaging. Has anyone had success printing foil labels using laser or inkjet printers directly? Any tips for getting that perfect luxury finish?
Looking forward to your recommendations—especially if you’ve had experience with tricky labels like foil or transparent materials for product boxes!

I'm happy to offer some suggestions! We provide a variety of permanent adhesive materials that should work well for your custom packaging. Our weatherproof materials are ideal for any high-contact applications. These are poly film label stocks that don't rip or tear easily and are coated for moisture resistance. I noticed you mentioned glossy as well. Our gloss labels are available in white and clear film and paper in both laser and inkjet options. While the glossy finish offers shine and vibrance to color designs, the true durability will come from the label substrate and coatings offered by the weatherproof materials mentioned above. For inkjet printers, we offer a Weatherproof Gloss Inkjet (WI), a popular choice among sticker makers. We also offer silver foil and gold foil for inkjet and laser printing. These are paper-based and don't provide the same durability as the weatherproof options mentioned above, but they can give a deluxe finish to your packaging. An additional metallic option would be our Weatherproof Silver Polyester Laser. This is a poly film like our other weatherproof materials but features a brushed silver finish.
