Hi everyone,
I’ve been facing a frustrating issue recently while printing labels for my custom packaging services. Even with perfect label alignment during the design stage, some prints shift slightly on the sheet. As a result, the borders or design elements get cut off.

I’m using a Canon Inkjet printer and printing mostly on glossy and matte label sheets. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Adjusting print settings ("labels" mode & custom paper size).
Centering the design with a bleed area for safety.
It improves things slightly, but it’s not perfect. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I’m wondering if switching to a specific label material, a thermal printer, or even custom-cut sizes can solve this problem.

Would love any advice or tips! If you’ve found specific tricks that work with glossy or foil labels, please share.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing alignment issues when printing your labels. Here are some recommendations that should help in most cases. To better assist you with the problems you're facing, could you please provide more details about the products and templates you are using for printing?

  • Stack your sheets neatly and evenly in the printer tray so they feed as straight as possible into the printer.
  • Click on "Preferences" or "Advanced Options" from your print dialog box and adjust the paper or media type. Selecting a heavier material type like "labels," "cardstock," or "transparency" can slow down the printing speed, decreasing some of the shifting.
  • Verify that the document size selected in the print dialog box matches the template -- Most of our products are standard U.S. Letter 8.5" x 11".
  • If using a software that generates a PDF, print directly from Adobe Reader with Actual Size or Scale 100% selected.
  • Run our alignment wizard if you're using Maestro Label Designer.
