Hi... does anyone have any recommendations for software for generating MIL-STD-130 compliant 2D and data matrix bar codes for unique indentifiers for serial numbers for U.S. Government sales? Thanks, Ross Q. Smith rossqsmith@radxtech.com

I recommend that you check out BarTender software from Seagull Scientific. It supports nearly all types of bar codes and should be able to generate the bar codes that you require. BarTender software is definitely one of the more expensive label software programs on the market, but it is a very functional piece of software when it comes to dealing with bar codes. There are several different versions available (basic version all the way to an enterprise edition). You can try the software for free for 30 days if you visit the link below. http://www.seagullscientific.comIf you just need to generate a small number of bar codes and create a few different labels then a better option may be just to use our Maestro Label Designer software and upload a 2D bar code generated from one of the free bar code generators on the web. Our Maestro Label Designer software has a built-in bar code generator, but it doesn't currently support 2D bar codes. There are a lot of free bar code generators on the web that are able to create 2D bar codes though. You can find them if you do a search for "free 2D bar code generator". Once you generate the 2D bar code, you would just upload the generated image into Maestro Label Designer and add it to your label design. This will be a much less expensive option. Thanks for the inquiry. Dave C. OnlineLabels.com
