Hi
I needed to label some dark amber colored plastic bottles so I tried my usual method, which is black ink on clear matte, but the result, while nice looking on clear bottles, looks horrid against the dark amber color. The matte sticker shows up as a dull 'scotch tape' looking film, and the black ink is difficult to read against the dark background. Are there better solutions for this?

Unfortunately, standard laser printer toner and inkjet inks are not opaque. In other words, what is behind the ink or toner will typically show through. A clear label on a dark or amber bottle probably isn't a good option unless you plan to have your labels professionally printed. The only way that I know of to get around this issue is to have your labels professionally printed and have the label company lay down a white under print layer on the printing press. The clear labels you see on products in retail stores are normally printed on a professional printing press and a layer of opaque white ink is usually laid down first and then the colors are printed over that. Unfortunately, at OnlineLabels.com, we do not offer the ability to produce labels with white under print at this time. Because of the dark, amber color of your packaging, you may need to select a different color than black. Or, if you want to stick with black ink, you ma have to reconsider the transparent label. Edited by user Thursday, October 25, 2018 5:41:31 AM(EST)
