Hi there, I am wondering why my labels are turning yellow. I am using them to label my candles. I order the weatherproof matte inkjet labels. Please help me to find a label that will not turn my labels yellow.

Thank you

Hi there! We're sorry to hear you're experiencing some issues with the labels. Yellowing can happen with Weatherproof Matte Inkjet labels because the material, while durable and water-resistant, is still slightly absorbent. In candle applications, exposure to smoke, heat, fragrance oils, or vapors from burning candles can cause environmental contaminants to absorb into the label over time, leading to discoloration. This is often most noticeable when placed next to a label that hasn’t been exposed.

What you can do:

  • Apply a clear overcoat spray to help seal the label and reduce absorption
  • Consider switching to a non-absorbent material (such as a film or polyester label) for candle use, as these are more resistant to yellowing
  • Minimize direct exposure to smoke and heat when possible
If you’re able, sharing photos and details about how and where the candles are stored or used can help narrow down the best label option for your needs. We’re happy to help you find a better long-term solution!
