I have been enjoying a multitude of types of labels for my home-brew beer bottles and I have been using of your labels for years with great satisfaction
. However, I am having a problem with labels OL5925WI Weatherproof gloss inkjet that are partially peeling off at the edges when immersed in iced water. Some labels have shown some ink smudges too. I have no other problems with peeling when refrigerated or kept at room temperature.
What can I do to prevent this label peeling and to prevent ink smudging?
Regards,
David Berne

I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you've experienced and I'll be happy to offer any assistance that I can.

Regarding the labels peeling up at the edges there are a few things to consider:

- Make sure that the surface the label is being applied is clean, dry and free from any debris or dust.
- Be careful when handling the edges of the labels. Over-handling the adhesive at the edge that is going to wrap around and adhere back to the label can slightly weaken the adhesive and make it more prone to peeling up.
- If you've already tried the tips suggested above, you may want to consider a slightly longer label to increase the amount wrap-over you're getting from the label. The more label area wrapping around, the better the adhesion should be. Please view the links below for similarly sized, but longer label configurations:

If you would like to try free samples of both of these products for testing, please just let me know and I'll have some sent your way.

Regarding the ink smudging that you've experienced, there are a couple of things to try that could improve the durability and print quality.

If you haven't tried adjusting the material type setting within your printer options that would be my first suggestion. Changing the material type setting from Default or Plain to something more specialized like Photo or Glossy can have a major impact on print quality and durability. That adjustment alone has improved smearing and smudging issues for some of our customers in the past.

If you've made that adjustment and are still experiencing the issue, you may want to consider using a clear coat protective spray immediately after printing your labels. We recommend a product called Krylon Preserve-It, which can be purchased locally at retailers such as Michael's and Hobby Lobby. You can view a guide on using Krylon Preserve-It by visiting the link below:

I hope this information helps. If you should need any additional assistance please just let me know.
