I just posted a few thoughts on the site.
As I was clicking "submit", I noticed the "Follow" box at the bottom.
It was OFF.
Egad.
I'm waiting for the moderator to approve my post.
When/if an answer appears, I may well miss it.
I get that when RESPONDING to a post, the default option s/b "Don't Follow".
But when CREATING a post? How likely is it that someone doesn't want to
follow a post they just wrote??

I note that the default for THIS post is "Follow".
Not sure why it wasn't the first time.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'll pass this feedback along to the team that manages our forums software. It definitely makes sense that creating a post should default to the "Follow" selection. Thank you again for your valuable feedback!
